Thank goodness for snow!

I know with this 2 week break from school, my kids would be killing each other if it weren't for this awesome snow hill/fort my kids and Matt built.
They have loved it. The first night they put tea candles for light, I was worried they would ask to sleep in it!

P.S to all worried about the collapse of snow caves, this one is not dug in past the tarp. No worries:)

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Eve, the kids got matching P.J.'s from Disneyland. Addy fell asleep, so she didn't get to open hers.

Santa brought the very anticipated MP3 player for Coby.

He also brought Addy a stroller for her preemie cabbage patch named Dora, she was born August 18th. I wish it would have been the 19th. Santa brought lots of Lego's for Taylor. It was a great Christmas!!

The best part of Christmas, everyone being together!! Coby wanted to be wherever his Dad was, so he played his DS on the counter while they put Lego's together. What a great day!!

It's all part of the experience

Thanksgiving weekend is full of so many fun things to do. We decorated a gingerbread Train, we watched the Parade of lights, Matt had a root canal. The fun never ends with us!!

We went out in search of the Stone family Christmas tree. After a quick stop at Macey's for the only the necessities, beef jerky, doughnuts, bridge mix, chips, suckers, gummy fish, Dr. pepper, Diet coke, and of coarse some water. We were ready to hit the road. Our tree permit took us to Eureka (Vernon) area. I love it down there! Well, we looked, and we looked, and then finally there it was, the Stone family Christmas tree! It was huge, and it wasn't going in the yard, it was going in our living room.

See it fit!! The smell of pine now fills our house. There is nothing like the smell of a Christmas tree to really get the kids excited. The next thing we did was write the kids letters to SANTA! It was a perfect weekend!

Please, no autographs

This was the Daily Herald January 10, 1990. We were pretty awesome!

Recently me and four of my friends from my early teens went and enjoyed an afternoon together. This is just one of the fun memories we shared over lunch. From left to right Me, Helen (well her legs), and Brittney.Another memory shared is that of being dropped off at the mall on many occasions. We love to take pictures there, and buy a new flavor of wet lips. You remember the roll on gloss that was flavored. YUMMY! 1989!

This last memory comes with a sincere apology to my Mom. The girls remember me being very picky about a certain "greasy Bambi restaurant" and my mom took me to two other places till the princess found exactly what was pleasing to her palate. She should have let me starve!! It was such a great trip, thanks Mom for putting up with me. Also thanks Camille and Maryann for remembering me at my worst!! ha ha

There was a time, that not seeing them daily seemed impossible. Now 15 years has passed, things have changed for each of us dramatically. I feel very fortunate to be able to call these extraordinary women my friends!

Happy Thanksgiving, try the pie.

Wow, where does the time go? It's almost Thanksgiving again. This year comes with some sadness. It is the first Thanksgiving without my Dad, and my Grandma Ollerton. I am so glad I got to spend last year with both of them at my parents house. My Dad always used to get excited this time of year for mincemeat pie. We used to be so grossed out by the thought of it. I used to think it was made out of deer meat, and raisins. YUCK!! Every year he would offer me some, and every year I would reply in the same sarcastic voice. "Oh could I please have some?" I never did try it.
I do have so many things to be thankful for. I am especially thankful for the gospel. I know that when this life ends, I will spend many special occasions with my Dad. Who knows maybe this year I will try some "mincemeat" pie.

Welcome to Nursery

Yesterday was Adelynn's first time in nursery. I was worried that she wouldn't want to leave me. Yea right, the second she caught site of the toys and kids she willingly went right to the stranger on the other side of the door. I was glad she didn't cry! I went to check on her one time, because in my mind she had to be crying by now. Nope still fine.
I even let my class out a few minutes early to go get her, she actually fell asleep. I was thinking wow she loved it! Then as I was picking her up the lady says "she might have a few bruises on her." WHAT!!??? She goes on to explain, "there was a little boy picking on her, his mom had to come get him." So of coarse I overreact and worry that she was hit in the head and that's why she fell asleep. I guess there are a few kids in there that are a little rough. So next Sunday she is puttin' on the gloves!!

Remember me?

As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot...anything you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty cool (and funny) to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you!And yes I will be checking this about every 5 minutes to see if there are any comments.

The ghost of Halloween past

I tried to find a picture of us our first Halloween without kids. We were Batman and Batgirl. Matt would have killed me, I thought he looked great in the tights!! However, I did find one of Dr. Phil. Matt is such a great Dad, he makes every holiday fun.

I love old Halloween pictures! This is Jennifer, Matt, and Cory. Here they are with with Linda too. So cute!! Happy Halloween!
Here are some pics from last year. Matt won the best costume at our ward party. Coby hated the fake hair he put on. It was a fun year.

Halloween party time!!

Ever since my kids were little, Grandma Stone has put on an awesome Halloween party. Some years are cold, some are snowy and some like today are beautiful!! We started off with a hay ride down to the "pumpkin patch" aka Grandpa's farm. Then we put faces on the pumpkins. Most of the kids wanted to draw their own faces on them, rather than use the stickers. We have so many talented kids!! Then they played a variety of fun games (for prizes of course) and we ended like all great party's do, by frosting our own cupcakes. It was a great day, and all the kids had fun.

Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Stone!!!

Hawaiian Ice

These last few weeks have been filled with a million different emotions.
Our family that lives on Maui came over to see my Grandma Jackson. Sean and Stacy stayed with us, along with her four beautiful children Serena, Shane, Shaylin, and Seanson. My Uncle Allen, my cousin Amy, and her son Triston stayed with my Uncle Vern.

Some of Stacy's kids had never seen snow, so that was our mission to find some snow for them. We drove up Payson canyon to the very top, that's where we found maybe an inch of slushy COLD snow. They loved it! It was such a beautiful day, all the leaves had changed. They all remembered the smell of the fall season.

Stacy and Seanson

This is the picture I like to call "Hawaiian Ice" It was COLD, but all the kids loved seeing the snow.

We did so many fun things together!

The Zoo

Pioneer Village (This is the Place Monument)

It's always so hard to tell them goodbye! I will miss Serena playing the piano, Shane playing with the boys, Shaylins beautiful smile, and whisper, and Seanson letting me know that he ate all his dinner in hopes for a chocolate ice cream bar.

I look forward to seeing them on Maui soon!!

16 yrs later, and a earlier bedtime.........

16 years ago Maryann and I, along with a few other close friends went on what we thought was the BEST TRIP EVER!!! We were just 16 yrs old, and my very trusting very wonderful mom let me take Ryan's car to St. George for the sunshine tournament. We had a great time! Maryann and I just recently got reconnected, and we wanted another vacation together. It just seemed fitting that it be in St. George. We were able to do many of the things we wanted to do. See a play at Tuacahn (les miserables), hike in Zion's, eat at the pizza factory, and laugh at the lack of enthusiasm our husbands had for our nostalgic moments. Although many things have changed for us both over the years. Husbands, kids, being able to stay up past midnight. For me, it was as if time has stood still when we got back together.

A special thanks to our husbands, who let us be silly together again!!

Sometimes you just have to laugh!

So I had just finished getting Addy dressed, and I went into the bathroom to put my makeup on, I noticed the tub was still full from Coby's bath. I quickly pulled the plug knowing that she would just get in if she saw it. Well the phone rang, so I went to get it. I didn't even answer the phone, and by the time I came back she was in and she was HAPPY!! I wanted to be angry, but with a smile like that, I didn't stand a chance. So I took off her clothes and she got her bath.

Turns out,,,, I can read.

So it's been a little over a decade since I have read a book.(Not counting the B.O.M.) Turns out I can still read. Even better, I really like to. I started the Twilight series when we went to palisades. I was almost certain not to read them because I had heard so much about them, and quite frankly they sounded stupid. I gave in to peer pressure from the girls at work. I'm sooo glad I did. I am on the fourth book (breaking dawn). I am obsessed!! My son Taylor laughed at me because I was reading in the tub. However, I felt sad that he rarely sees me reading. I have a feeling that will change. Matt worries about what will happen after I'm done with the books. I'm hoping that someone has some ideas of books that are comparable!!!

15 minutes of fame, a miracle not forgotten!!

We really witnessed a miracle that day, there was so much more that the media didn't even cover. I had Taylor head home because we were going to go to the store. The road to the store is a main highway. There is no way he could have held on that far. It is so important that we listen to that still small voice, and that we act on those feelings. I was in quite a hurry that day and remember almost not calling Rachael. The thought still haunts me. This day will forever be a reminder for me, and I'm sure for Harris family, that miracles really do still happen.

Hide-And-Seek Scare
A 4-year-old boy who decided to play hide-and-seek almost had a tragic outcome when his parents couldn't find him. He was later found underneath his neighbor's car. Harry Smith speaks to the family. Share/Embed

simple game of hide-and-seek nearly had disastrous results for a little Utah boy. Four-year-old Taylor Harris decided the best place to hide would be under a neighbor's minivan. When he didn't come home on time, family and friends started looking for him, including the woman who owned the van. Robyn Stone drove for more than a mile until she heard the boy crying. That's when she made a shocking discovery — Taylor was wedged under her vehicle near a spare tire. Taylor Harris, his mother Rachel and Robyn Stone joined The Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith in New York on Friday to share their story. Robyn, who has a son Taylor's age, says the kids where playing hide-and-seek. She realized something was amiss when she didn't see Taylor go home. "You know, I always watch him go home. I make sure they go in the door and that Rachel knows that they're home. We live right next door, well across the street," Robyn explained. "And the door was open, and I hadn't seen him go in the house." Robyn says she then called Taylor's mom. What was her reaction? "No, I haven't heard the door open so he must not have come in the house," Rachel recalled. "I ran down the stairs immediately, we kind of met in the middle of the street trying to see what had happened, figure it out real quick." The two women say they were calling for Taylor and realized something was wrong after about five minutes, when he failed to answer. "He's not coming out and then 10 minutes went by and that's when I made the 911 call because I figure, OK, he's been gone too long," Rachel explained. She admits Taylor is pretty "precocious." "He's his own little man. That's a good way to put it for Taylor." Panic set in and Robyn decided to jump in her van and search the neighborhood for Taylor. "He's not at my house, he's not in the yard. I've got to go further. I've got to go to a park," she recalled. Asked how fast she was going, Robyn said, "At first, I started out 20 miles an hour, maybe less, and then I got on the main road which goes to the other park that I was going to and it was like 40, 45 miles an hour." She was unaware that Taylor was huddled underneath the van, hanging onto a bar. Asked by Harry Smith whether he was scared, Taylor nodded. Robyn says she didn't hear the little boy at first until she started to head back. "I heard him cry, panic cry — you know, a scared cry," she explained. "And so I immediately stopped my car, right in the middle of the road and got out and was looking from side to side. Maybe he was at a school. Where am I hearing him cry? I couldn't figure it out and then I realized." When they returned to Taylor's home, his mother says Robyn was in tears. "He came back to our house, our two houses and she was just a mess, she was crying, she could hardly talk and she said 'I found him, Rachel,' " she explained. "He was sitting in the car. I was like, 'OK, good.' She's like 'Under the car.' I was like, 'What?' " Rachel says when the first officer responded to the 911 call, he was just as floored by the incident as they were. Asked if she wonders if miracles do happen, Robyn said: "Well, we know they do. … I don't wonder anymore. There were definitely angels under the car.

I was just fine not knowing........

So after being a dental assistant for close to 10 yrs. on and off, I finally WENT to the Dentist. I really don't like being in the chair, I like being by the chair!! After my exam and x-rays we only found five cavities. Not bad for 10 yrs!! However, one of the teeth became extremely angry after being drilled on. We tried putting a sedative filling in, that helped for a day or two. Then one beautiful Sunday morning I awoke to severe aching in my jaw and ear. So I called my Dentist (employer) and he met me down to his office. Luckily Dr. Stinky (aka JaNae) came with him.... Now lets pause and get a mental picture of the situation.....

There that's better, nothing a little laughing gas cant fix!! However, have you ever heard of someone having to go fetch their own willow for a spankin? Do you get a small one that stings and will possibly break, leaving you to pick another and start over? Or do you get a big one that will surely mend your bad behavior in one strike? I pondered this thought as I was loading my needle for my OWN shot. Its not something you look forward to. To make things worse, I knew exactly what they were doing, and how long the files were. I guess it is good in a way that now I experienced it for myself, and when telling people that "it's not that bad" I wont be lying. It wasn't that bad, I know every situation is different, and I have seen Matt go through an awful root canal, but luckily I didn't have the same experience. I think ultimately I would have been just fine not knowing what it was like!!!

Last trip before school

Palisade Park (it's past Manti) What a beautiful place. Taylor and Coby enjoyed the paddle boat ALL DAY LONG!! I really think that eventually Taylor will grow gills. The Lake is so clean, and the hosts there are very helpful! We sort of set up in the wrong camp area, and as we figured it out here comes the Ranger, they laughed with us and offered to help numerous times. Matt is getting really good at setting the trailer up making it level.
Addy isn't the best camper yet. She gets frustrated with the limited space, and trying to sleep in a new place. She hated the paddle boat, because she had to wear a life jacket. She also just wanted to get in the water. We went through a whole package of dots trying to distract her enough to paddle across the lake.

It's a good thing Coby is willing to do anything to entertain her. She loves her big brothers!!!!
It was a full moon, we watched it come over the mountain each night. It was almost to bright to sleep!!! We had a good time, and we taught the kids that trick where you put your arms through someone Else's shirt to make it look like their arms. The funniest was when Coby put his arms in Matts shirt! Taylor and I laughed so hard!!

The fun doesn't stop there!! Then when we came home we showered (I forgot deodorant) then we went up to Sugarhouse park for a reunion with the Mckell family. That's Matts moms family. It was fun, they had a blow up slide for the kids, it was nice. We were very tired that night!!! I think we try to cram in all kinds of fun stuff before the kids start school. Hopefully they had fun too.
